About
About Water Hardness Check
Water Hardness Check is a small independent site for households on hard water or a private well that want to work out which equipment fits their water and roughly what it will cost. We don't run a water utility or a testing lab, we aren't plumbers or treatment dealers, and we have nothing of our own to sell or install.
An AI tool helps draft the pages; each one is then checked against public sources such as university extension services, state health departments, the US EPA, USGS and published cost guides. Those sources are linked on every page and on Water Check. You won't find reviews, testimonials, made-up authors or "experts" here, and we never claim to have tested a product.
Some pages carry AI-generated illustrations — a pipe lined with scale, the order of filters on a supply line — meant only to help you picture the idea. They don't show real homes, jobs or people, we don't pass them off as our own photos, and each page that has one says so under the article.
Where the money comes from
The plan is to earn through affiliate links to water treatment stores on the Awin network. Right now no link on the site pays us anything. When a store's program accepts us, its link will appear in a small box labelled "Paid link"; buying through it may earn us a commission, and your price stays the same. Commissions have no say in what Water Check calculates or what we write. More on this: affiliate disclosure.
Lines we don't cross
No health claims about water or equipment, and no saying a product removes a contaminant unless it holds a certification for that. Whether your water is safe to drink is a question for a state-certified lab and your state or local health department. We also don't publish step-by-step plumbing or well-disinfection instructions.
Found an error? Let us know and we'll recheck it against the source.
